Why is it important to create an image or video ad?
Our platform automatically runs product carousels that show a dynamic selection of all the products on your website. These ads are very important and have good results, but it is advisable to add some ads that personalize your communication even more.
Creatively showing the voice of your brand with a unique image or video ad is an important complement to the ads that automatically run on our platform.
Adding ads with eye-catching images will make your potential customers pay attention to your ad and enter the products you suggest.
👉🏼 Where are image or video ads displayed?
For these ads, you must upload a square image or video and it will automatically adapt so that your ad is displayed in various locations:
In the feed of both platforms.
In Instagram stories.
In the right column, search results and Facebook Instant Articles.
The texts and the way they are displayed will also be adapted.
💡 Tip: try uploading videos instead of static images! They usually have better results.
How to create them
👣 Step 1.
From the menu, go to Facebooks Ads > Ads.
👣 Step 2.
Click on the button that appears on the right side of the screen.
👣 Step 3.
Choose the Images or videos option and name your ad.
👣 Step 4
You will get a screen where you must choose whether you want to show recommended products or not.
💡 We suggest not to show products. This is because we have seen that images or videos with good production that are shown without suggesting products have better results than those that do suggest.
In case you choose the option to show products, the ad will be transformed into a collection. That is to say, the image or video you upload will be shown and below it will appear some little squares that will suggest the products of the set.
You will have to choose which product set you want the ad to suggest.
❗️Please note: only the sets that have more than 4 products in stock will appear in the list. If your set does not meet this condition, you will not be able to use it to create the ad. In that case you will have to edit the set and add more products in stock. Learn how to edit or create a set in this article.
💡 The data of the products in your set will be automatically taken from your website: they will be updated according to the changes you make on your site, we will show the images you have in your ecommerce and if any of those products are then clicked on, we will direct them to the specific link of that particular product.
👣 Step 5.
Now it's time to upload the creative.
💡 We recommend it to be a video which always has better results, but it can also be an image.
Aspect: 1:1 or 4:5
Resolution: Greater than or equal to 1080x1080 pixels
Aspect ratio: 1:1 or 4:5
Resolution: Greater than or equal to 1080x1080 pixels
Text in image: 20% or less
What we suggest is that you upload a square image that will fit all formats (Feed, Stories and the other locations).
❗️Some important clarifications:
If you chose to recommend products (i.e. create a collection).
👉🏼 You will not be able to upload vertical images. We recommend you to upload a square image (1:1) or in any case, a horizontal image (1.91:1).
👉🏼 Your ad will not be displayed in other locations such as Right Column, Search Results and Instant Articles.
If you chose not to recommend products.
👉🏼 You will be able to upload any image larger than 1:1. However, if you choose a vertical image:
It will not show up in the Instagram Feed.
In the Facebook feed it will be automatically cropped and may look messy.
In this case, we recommend uploading a square image and then modifying the image in the "Stories" format by uploading the vertical image. You will also be able to modify the image from other locations by uploading a horizontal one.
👣 Step 6
You will need to fill in some text
👉🏼 The main text (maximum 500 characters, but we recommend up to 125) in which we recommend you put your brand's value proposition, discounts, fees and anything that will catch the attention of your potential customer. Use emojis!
👉🏼 Title (maximum of 100 characters, but we recommend it to be 25).
In this case, it should be a short concept that encompasses all the products in the product set chosen to show in this ad.
👉🏼 Description (maximum of 100 characters, but we recommend it to be 30).
This is additional text but is not required and will appear only in some formats (Facebook feed and the other locations like right column).
This is what your ad would look like on Instagram with the text.
👣 Step 7
You can schedule your ads!
You will have two options: either leave it to be always active or have it go live on the dates you select.
Whenever you have a special promotion or something specific to communicate during a period of time, schedule your ad!
📌Clarification: the date range is inclusive. That is, the selected days are included in the period in which the ad will be displayed.
👣 Step 8.
Finally, you must choose the audiences you want to target with your ad.
You can select one or all of the options.
This option allows you to create different ads with different messages for different audience segments.
💡 Our recommendation is that you leave all options selected to maximize the reach of your ad.
👣 Step 9
Now you're done with setting up your ad! 💪
On the next screen you'll see a summary of your ad - you can edit anything you want!
Once it's ready, click on the create ad button.
👣 Step 10
Done! You now have your ad created.
👉🏼 Now we will have to wait for Facebook to approve your ads. This may take a few hours. If you get an email saying that the ads are rejected, you can follow this step by step.
👉🏼 Once they are approved, your ads will start running and enter a learning period. Learn more about this here.
👉🏼 You should periodically check how your ad is running.
In the ad management screen, in the Quality Score column you will see:
💪 In green the ones that work best.
⏳In light green those that could be improved.
⏸ In red the ones we recommend you pause.
🐣 You will also come across some ads that are in the learning period.
👉🏼 To edit, pause or delete your ad, click on the pencil, on the pause sign or on the three dots respectively.
If you click on the pencil, you will go to the editing screen, where you will be able to see all the settings of your ad and modify what you think is necessary.
